Oreo Cheesecake

Have you ever had the urge to try some of those DIY desserts you always see on the Internet especially twitter like OMG they look so delicious and so easy and can I just have them already. Today, that's me and I'm going to make "no bake Oreo cheesecake"!

I got this Oreo cheesecake recipe from http://www.lifeloveandsugar.com/ and the ingredients they use for:

Crust
2 cups Oreo crumbs (from about 20 Oreos)
1/4 cup butter, melted

Filling
24 oz (three 8-oz packages) cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
8 oz cool whip (or homemade whipped cream)
1 1/2 cups Oreo crumbs (from about 16 Oreos)
7-10 Oreos, chopped, optional
additional Oreo crumbs for the top, optional

For the Oreo crumbs, I came across a shop that sells just the Oreo crumbs itself so it really saves you a lot of effort and time (because you know you have to split the cream with the biscuit then crushed it later which for lazy people like me really kills the mood to make something HAHA). I got the Oreo crumbs from USJ 8 (opposite taipan mosque, beside the police station), Baking Solution.

Do ignore the chocolate chip, it was for my Starbucks Frappucino which I would blog about but it was a major fail that I really can't show you anything LOL.

Just look at this perfectly crushed crumbs of Oreos `tears of joy.

For the crust of the cake, we need:

We need melted butter so I did it myself,

Combine your melted butter with Oreo crumbs and mix them thoroughly.

You will be needing a 9-inch-pan so mine is:

`close enough LOL.

In the process- after that flatten it out at the base to half-side way of the pan (but mine I only did bottom LOL) and chilled it. I did the base first so that I can let it chill while I make the filling of the cake.

After flatten and chilled:

Now the filling, we will be needing:

**Cream Cheese. (I forgot to take picture of it LOL)

1. Mix the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla essences together.

2. Add whip cream and gently stir it. (WARNING: "over whipped" whipped cream can spoil your whipped cream like instead of being fluffy, they can be soggy).

3. Add Oreo crumbs and Oreo bits (chopped Oreos LOL).

4. Pour the filling into the crust and smooth the top.

5!! (favourite part LOL) *Optional. Add Oreo crumbs as the finishing top.

6. Refrigerate it for at least 4 hours or more until firm.

AND..

TA - DAA!

However, I feel mine is a bit fail because it is not as firm as a normal cheesecake should be but probably because I only had 550g of cream cheese and they needed 650g I think so I just had to make do.

Overall I think its okay (after mourning over my partially failed cake) and I'm quite happy because I have some nice cake to last for a week or more LOL. Feel free to try making yours and let me know how it goes! (hopefully the cake would be firm unlike mine)

I will be updating my next post on my trip to Penang so stay tuned! xx.
